Our Story
The Eureka Moment
While setting up a challenging shot three years ago, we faced an issue many filmmakers know all too well: taping filters. The matte box was too large for the tight space the camera was operating in, and the wide lens caused heavy vignetting. To get the shot, we did what have been doing for decades, we taped the filter directly onto the lens. Unfortunately, when shooting, the tape detached, the filter fell, and the expensive piece of gear was damaged, right in the middle of a setup, and we had no spares. The realization that there was no viable alternative to taping filters motivated us to dive in fully: there had to be a better way. What started as a solution for ourselves, quickly evolved into something bigger.

Crafting a Durable Solution
We wanted to create a durable, functional, and universal tool that could eliminate taping filters. To achieve this, we focused on rapid prototyping, testing each iteration with our colleagues on set. After countless hours, 120+ prototypes, and relentless tweaking, we now have a product that we are proud of and are ready to present to the wider filmmaking community.
Durability was a top priority, which is why we chose glass fiber-reinforced polyamide— a material that balances strength and lightweight functionality. The Bun-G-Ring’s precision-engineered design ensures it meets the demands of professional use, all while reducing waste from disposable solutions.
Guided by the philosophy of ‘function over form’, we focused on usability and universal compatibility. Whether you’re using it with a common lens or a custom setup, the Bun-G-Ring can be mounted quickly, efficiently, and reliably under any condition, without adding unnecessary complexity.
From an Idea to a Product
Armed with nothing more than a few sketches on paper and a desire to solve the this troublesome issue, we started experimenting. From there, we jumped into YouTube tutorials, took a free industrial design course, and spent countless nights learning Fusion 360. We then made our first prototypes using a home 3D printer and brought the concept to life. During a commercial shoot, an early prototype caught the eye of Erno Das, an industry veteran, who instantly saw its potential. That moment marked the start of a journey to turn the product into a solution designed for filmmakers everywhere.

Built By Filmmakers, For Filmmakers
This isn’t just another accessory — it’s a solution born out of our firsthand experience. I am a camera assistant with over 9 years in the industry. I brought my passion for problem-solving and innovative design to the table, and Erno Das (my business partner), a gaffer with over 35 years of experience and a track record of creating solutions, such as the Litemover, contributed his deep knowledge of the industry to the project. We created a tool for filmmakers because we needed a tool to meet the challenges we faced on the set. Who better to solve that problem than us filmmakers?
Looking Ahead
Our vision is clear: no more taping filters. The Bun-G-Ring is just the beginning. Currently, our product is designed to accommodate the most common lens front diameters, but we’re already planning to expand the range.
We’re committed to continuously improving our designs, driven by feedback from professionals like you. Every iteration is guided by a single goal: to simplify your workflow and protect your gear, so you can focus on what truly matters — creating.
